It feels like we made it!! Monday morning we left Carrollton, GA at 4 a.m. We arrived at the Atlanta Airport at 5 a.m. and began our terminal chase. We were flying standby to LAX. Our first flight departed at 7:23 a.m. with our luggage. Due to over booked flights (whoever said it was okay to sell more tickets than seats was not thinking of customer satisfaction) the stand by list was well over twenty passengers for all 12 flights leaving for LAX. Nonetheless, we felt adventurous and ran from gate to gate hoping to catch an empty seat. The Delta Help Line suggested we take an indirect rout to LAX. We tried to go through Salt Lake City and Cincinnati. Same rat race. But New Orleans let us on!!! We spent four hours in New Orleans with doubtful prospects of getting on the only LA flight. We had our things packed and had researched hotels in New Orleans to accommodate our unplanned stay. Then, the unnice lady that had led us to believe there was no way we were going to LA on that flight, called our name to come to the desk. She issued us two first class tickets!! Well, Lydia can't fly first class, but it was nice to know it was offered to us. We were overwhelmed!!! We arrived in LA Monday night 10:40 p.m. (our bodies totally thought it was 1:40 a.m. and then some). We missed our flight out of the country, but we weren't to sad about going to lay flat on a hotel bed!!! This morning we are like giddy kids! We slept 6 hours in a row! We have to check out by 11 a.m. Then were off for another adventure to kill time until 11:25 p.m. My sweet brother is coming to eat dinner with us after he gets off work in San Diego. Even though our travels have not gone as planned and we have run into several frustrating situations and people, the Lord has our spirits high. Yesterday, there was one point I thought about biting Micah's head off with my words, but my heart softened quickly and I apologized. It is amazing to see how hard times can bring us closer to each other and to the Lord. We are in awe of how He has literally carried us to this point.
Lydia is doing great!! Eleven hours in Atlanta airport, four hours in New Orleans, five hours in the air. What a trouper. She slept in her stroller a lot in the airports. She also did her share of running around and making new friends. She has had a runny nose and a cough for several days. She seems to be improving. She is a great source of joy and laughter for us! We have some pics, but we packed our cord to put them on the computer. You will have to wait for the good stuff!
