Today we took a day trip to the top of a local mountain. One of our friends is on a break from university. We took him up the mountain. The locals here talk about this mountain like it is winter at the top. I thought that their bodies must be so accustomed to HOT that they would think the upper 60's is cold. But to my surprise, it was quite chilly. We shivered through lunch, because none of us brought a jacket.
Getting there was not a piece of cake. Our little car couldn't make it. We pulled over a couple of times as we started up the mountain because the engine was over heating. A passerby stopped to see if we needed help. He said he would look it over for 50 bucks. "UH!" I said. We did not think that was a good idea. After we got our car cooled, we started up the big hill again. Not 3 minutes and the little needle in the dash moved closer and closer to the H. We pulled over at a police station. They said we could leave our car there and taxi up the mountain. We finally made it! It has been so long since I breathed in cold air. We were literally in the clouds. You could see the moisture moving around us. There was an outdoor theme park, and indoor theme park, a movie theater, bowling alley, casino, mall, ice cream, coffee, food... It was a tourist's dream. We were excited to get to any kind of food after our elongated journey.

Micah brought books for each of us just in case we had a coffee shop experience in which we could sit and read. And we did. It was great.

At the bottom of the mountain there are stalls with local food. Micah loves chicken Rendang with coconut rice cooked in bamboo. We bought extra so we could have plenty of left overs.

Now we are back. Lydia and I are watching a movie Grandma and Rock sent in our care package, while Micah is out playing futsol. Fun filled day!
