What's new??

Well, it's hot.  The locals complain about the heat, but I have not really felt what they were talking about.... until now.  Evidently it is dry season until September.  And that means it is hot.  Maybe only a few degrees Celsius difference, but the heat index has got to be more.

And... we have ants.  I am ashamed to say that this has been more difficult for me than any kind of culture shock we may have experienced.  I get so mad when I spend all day cleaning and turn around and find those little tiny ants trailing up the water cooler, up the wall to the cabinets, or around the baseboards of a room.  I have had to pray a lot!  It should not affect me this much.  Micah is trying to convince me that maybe we should just enjoy them and learn to coexist.  HaHa!!  We have our window cleaner out at all times ready to attack.

On the brighter side, we are having lots of fun!  Lydia is a joy to be around.  She has a lot less temper tantrums (less meaning she still has them almost daily, but not hourly).  She is becoming so helpful!  She takes things to the trash for us.  She puts things away when we ask.  She is very interactive.  She studies our faces when we talk to her.  And she can tell us when she is hungry, thirsty, wants to read, or draw.  It is shocking to hear her intentionally say something like "cracker" or "milk" or "ball" or "book".  She is growing up!!  Her hiding skills have much improved.  She will stand in the curtains so still and for so long that I really don't know where she is.  It's a lot different than that little girl that would pull the blanket over her head for half a second and then pull it off and expect you to say peek-a-boo each time.

I am really enjoying Ladies Bible Study on Wednesday mornings.  It is nice to get to know some of the ladies from church.  We are currently doing a Tim Keller study on Prayer.  It has been really encouraging and has prompted great discussion.

Hi Micah and Blair, My husband Matt and I go to Church with Steve and Wanda. I can relate to the ants because a couple of years ago we had an ant infestation in our house. I took it on the level with locus invading my home and God telling me you have to listen to me I'll take care of you. I had just lost my job and loaded up on groceries. We had to get rid of everything. Anyway, I found out, from a retired exterminator that if you place bay leaves around (replace them about every 3-6mos) it will get rid of the ants. It worked!!!! I hope this helps you. Your ants may be different from those in GA. God bless and we are praying for you. Tammy
