Our due date is November 16, 2009. Today she asked my permission to do blood tests to ensure that I have no diseases that can be transfered to the baby as well as tests to see if the baby is likely to have Down's Syndrome. I remember these same options in the U.S. when I had Lydia. It was encouraging to me that the procedures here seem very similar. I agreed to the blood test's that I had in the states to ensure I will not transfer anything to my baby, but Micah and I decided not to do the Down's Syndrome tests. The outcome is not significant. Either way this is our baby, so not much would change.
It is so nice to see the baby, the heart beat, the head, the little hands. Don't worry moms. We have pics on the way for you guys!!! It looks like he/she is waving.
Lydia went to the doctor with us this time. We want her to be a part of this process. We showed her the baby on the monitor, but she was oblivious (as to be expected). We tell her often that she is going to be a big sister. Maybe one day it will all make sense.
Other than that, today we are picking up last minute odds and ins before we leave for Spain tomorrow!!! Micah and I are really excited. This is a really good time for us to get away. Granted we will be with hundreds of people from our agency, but nonetheless, we could use some family time. Their is something exciting about getting away, even if there are meetings and work stuff involved. We can trash our hotel room and someone else will make our beds and empty our trash. No grocery shopping and no long days with Micah gone all day. It will be a nice break.
