Global Missions Conference

Thursday we began the festivities of the PCA Global Missions Conference in Atlanta. We returned home last night pretty exhausted. The weekend was quite fruitful! I would have to say the highlight was meeting the pastor we will be working with in Asia. We were able to spend time with him over meals and during the down time of the conference. What a joy to see how the Lord has so soverignly put us together. This pastor is hungry to see young people raised up to lead his church and church planting movements around the world. He spends much of his time with University students mentoring and teaching. Not only were we encouraged by his vision for the church, but also how loving he was towards us as individuals.

The conference was too much to swallow, and way more than I can articulate at this point. Micah and I walked away in awe that the Lord would include us in His great work around this world. As we meet people being used by God, we are becoming more and more aware that we truly have nothing to offer. And then I am reminded of Paul's words saying when I came to you I claimed to know nothing but Christ and Him crucified.

Another highlight was Richard Pratt and Paul Kooistra bringing the word of God. I was left convicted of our thinking as a church on the subject of missions. Dr. Pratt described our veiw of missions as a room added on to an existing house. No matter what you do it is mighty hard to make the addition to the house look as if it were part of the original plan. He argued to say that missions is not the add-on, but the main building. From Genisis to Revelation the Word of God gives examples of as well as commands us to multiply. Oh to know Him more. That is what we need. To know the Character of God. These things will come as we come to know Him and be made more into His likeness. Don't fret brothers and sisters. We shall not hear this message and say let us go change! No! Let us revel in the Mighty Power of God and let Him be the one that changes us!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Hopefully we will be thankful for a baby being born really soon!!!

In His Grace,
Blair
